We are a team of experienced librarians, committed to supporting outstanding patient care by providing fast, effective and accurate access to quality research and evidence.

We support staff and students across the NHS, including staff and students working in or providing services for the NHS in Somerset and those working in the ambulance service in the South West.

    Cate Newell - LKS Manager

    Library and Knowledge Services, Musgrove Park Hospital

    Cate joined the library team in June 2020. Cate has several years of experience of working in both academic and health library sectors, most recently as Reader Services Librarian at the Royal Devon & Exeter NHS Foundation Trust, managing front of house library services and research support. Cate is keen to develop and grow an already thriving library service, which supports education and research, and delivers high quality, reliable information and knowledge in order to enable excellent, evidence-based patient care in Taunton and across Somerset.

    Jess Pawley -Knowledge & Evidence Specialist/Improvement

    Library and Knowledge Services/Improvement, Musgrove Park Hospital

    Jess works across the library and quality improvement teams, and has 14 years’ experience in NHS libraries. She helps to support quality improvement by conducting evidence searches to support change and improvement projects across the Trust. She is also part of the Evidence for QI (E4QI) project to promote the link between libraries and quality improvement. Jess also has an interest in systematic reviews. She has previous experience of working as a clinical librarian within the Beacon Centre, and recently provided knowledge management and evidence support for NHS England’s COVID-19 response, as part of the Behaviour Change Unit.

    Roxanne Hart - Knowledge & Evidence Specialist

    Library and Knowledge Services, Musgrove Park Hospital

    Roxanne is the embedded librarian for Corporate services. This is a newly created post (2020) which aims to ensure that evidence based decision making is not limited to clinical services but extends also to corporate services. Her role is to ease the flow of quality, relevant pieces of information to enable decision makers to more easily adopt an evidence based approach. Her background is medical librarianship, working in hospitals and universities in Canada, Ireland, and the UK. She has been at the Trust since 2017. She has a professional interest in systematic reviews.

    Paula Younger - Knowledge & Evidence Specialist/Primary Care

    Library and Knowledge Services/Primary Care, Musgrove Park Hospital

    Paula Younger has worked in healthcare and science libraries for over 15 years, including in the NHS, Ministry of Defence, and Higher Education; she previously worked in training and education settings. Her particular interests include the use of technology to support library services and healthcare information in languages other than English. She has an MA in Information and Library Management from the University of Northumbria, a Modern Languages PGCE from the University of Newcastle, and other professional and vocational qualifications. Her dangerous weaknesses are chocolate, and cats.

    Veronica Price - Clinical Outreach Librarian

    Library and Knowledge Services, Musgrove Park Hospital

    Veronica Price - Clinical Outreach Librarian Veronica joined the library team in January 2021, following many years working in the education and commercial sectors, most recently as a school librarian. She completed her PGDip in Library and Information Management as a distance-learning student with University of Ulster. Her outreach role involves delivering library inductions, providing training in digital, information and health literacies for all healthcare colleagues and students on placement with the Trust. She also works on partnership projects to extend health literacy to the general population, is responsible for the library's social media presence and performs literature & evidence searches.

    Dan Wolfe – Library Assistant

    Library and Knowledge Services, Musgrove Park Hospital

    Dan joined the library team in July 2021 after initially coming onboard with the NHS in June 2020. His skills and years of experience predominantly in Customer Service and Technical Support were brought to the Mass Vaccination IT Team, Mass Vaccination Temporary Staffing, and now the Library and Knowledge Services. Dan is dedicated to quality and improvement, and keen to learn as much as possible about knowledge services and offer any insights he may have from previous roles to ensure the library service continues to grow and provide excellent support to its patrons.

    Laetitia Delaleuf - Knowledge Resources Specialist

    Library and Knowledge Services, Musgrove Park Hospital

    Laetitia Delaleuf – Knowledge Resources Specialist Laetitia joined the library team in August 2021. She has over 10 years of experiences in Library sectors from public to private and specialized libraries. Her most recent role was in a College, managing a library dedicated mainly to land-based and nuclear subjects. This is her first experience in a Health library. Laetitia is passionate about learning and fostering the information literacy skills as well as learning and reading for fun. She is convinced that everyone needs to become critical information consumers and this is especially true in Health sector. She also strongly believes that the librarian should be in the heart of this learning and provide both an informal and formal way to achieve it. She is also a fan of Doctor Who. So be aware of the Dalek around her neck!

    Katy Kitto - Knowledge & Evidence Specialist

    Katy Kitto – Knowledge and Evidence Specialist Katy joined the team in January 2022 on a year's secondment and is the Knowledge and Evidence Specialist for Corporate Services. In this role Katy aims to continue to ensure that evidence-based decision making is supported within the corporate teams. Katy has worked in NHS libraries for nearly 10 years, most recently as the Assistant Librarian at Yeovil Hospital.

    William Rees - Library Assistant

    Library and Knowledge Services, Musgrove Park Hospital

    William Rees - Library Assistant William started work at MPH in January 2022, having had a circuitous and varied previous career path involving the Bar, the Catholic Church (not at the same time…), and academia. He holds a DPhil from Oxford University (if you have the time and the inclination, you can find my thesis online: Cassius Dio, Human Nature and the late Roman Republic). He is a poet, having had several of his works published in poetry magazines to which probably the only people who subscribe are poets who have to do so to be able to submit their poems. Outside of work, his interests involve studying, reading and writing, cooking, walking in the countryside, and trying to sing the Ave Verum Corpus.​

    Hayley Hodges - Evidence Librarian

    Hayley Hodges - Evidence Librarian Library and Knowledge Services, Musgrove Park Hospital Hayley joined the library team in February 2022 as an Evidence Librarian. Having spent many years as a primary teacher, some of which were spent in Cairo, Egypt, she studied for an MA in Library and Information Management at Manchester Metropolitan University. Her role entails responding to search requests from library users and carrying out evidence and literature searches in order to provide them with as much relevant and up to date evidence as possible. Her passions are needlework, craft and music.
