Library Closure and Relocation Announcement

Advance notice – Library Closure, Monday 13th December – Tuesday 4th January

We are excited to announce that the Library & Knowledge Service currently based at Barton House South, Musgrove Park Hospital, will be returning to the Academy and re-opening on Tuesday 4th January. A new library has been built as part of a £1 million Academy development project to develop and extend learning spaces to support new cohorts of medical students from the University of Plymouth, in addition to all staff and students at Somerset NHS Foundation Trust. The new library will benefit from additional PCs, study space, small group study rooms, individual study booths and wellbeing space, over two floors.

To facilitate the move, the Library at Barton House South will close from Monday 13th December and will be operating a virtual service throughout the rest of December, until the Library re-opens on Tuesday 4th January.

Book stock, PCs, and study spaces will be temporarily unavailable, but you will still be able to contact the Library via email if you need any help with getting online articles from other libraries, evidence searches and other library services such as virtual training.

Any books on loan should automatically be renewed for the duration of the closure period, but please contact if you have any concerns. You will still be able to return books in the post/internal mail, or in the book returns box on the Jubilee concourse.

We apologise in advance for any potential inconvenience caused, and look forward to welcoming you to our new library facility on Tuesday 4th January
