Our charities

We benefit from the support of thousands of people who either give up their time to volunteer with us or who raise money for the charities that support us. Thank you to every single one of you – your support means such a lot to us.

Our NHS Charities

Our NHS Charities are our official charities and work hand in hand with the trust to make sure their work is having as much impact as it possibly can.

Love Musgrove

Love Musgrove is the official charity of Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton. The money it raises is used to fund new projects, buildings and equipment that make a real difference for patients at the hospital. Over the years it has had an incredible impact across our services including funding transformational projects in maternity, cancer, radiology and our response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Yeovil Hospital Charity

Yeovil Hospital Charity is the official charity of Yeovil Hospital. It raises money to fund new projects, buildings and equipment that make a difference for patients at what is often a difficult time. With the support of the community, the charity has funded a huge range of exciting projects throughout the hospital.

Somerset NHS Charity

Somerset NHS Charity is a new addition to our charity family and will fundraise for county-wide NHS projects and projects that fall outside our two main district hospitals. It will raise funds to make a difference at our community hospitals, our mental health services and across our other community-based services. If you would like to support one of our community hospitals or services, please contact SomersetNHSCharity@SomersetFT.nhs.uk

Other charities that work with our hospitals

The League of Friends Musgrove Park Hospital has been supporting local healthcare for more than 50 years. It raises funds to buy new medical equipment and building works and its friendly volunteers also run charity shops and a ward trolley service.

The League of Friends of Yeovil Hospital began in 1951 as an independent voluntary organisation and registered charity. Since then we have raised the equivalent of in excess of £10 million for the benefit of our patients, their families and the staff who care for them.

Many of our community hospitals also have thriving Leagues of Friends who support them. To find out more about them, or to ask to be put in touch, please contact the relevant community hospital.

The Musgrove Leukaemic Group Somerset (MLGS) raises money for leukaemia and lymphoma patients and their families in Somerset. Originally formed in the late 1970s by a group of local parents whose children had to travel to treatment, the charity has helped Musgrove Park Hospital establish itself as a major regional centre for leukaemia and related blood disorders.

Somerset Unit for Radiotherapy Equipment (SURE) was founded in 2000 and supports local cancer services. Over the years it has provided Musgrove Park Hospital and its Beacon Cancer Centre with a CT scanner and a facility to make screening masks for patients with facial and throat cancers.
