Supporting you

Join us and you’ll find a pioneering Trust that’s embracing a different way of working at the forefront of real change in mental health. A Trust where you feel supported and listened to. Where you’re encouraged to voice your opinions and learn from your mistakes. And where you can make a real contribution to enhancing services and improving patient experiences.

Whether you’re looking to advance your career, improve your skills or gain new experience, we’ll support you every step of the way to help you achieve your full potential. You’ll be part of a multidisciplinary service where we work closely together, sharing knowledge and learning from each other. You may want to improve your existing expertise or gain broader experience in acute or community settings. You could be looking to develop your skills in different therapies or move into management. Whatever your goals, you’ll find support from a close-knit team and opportunities in a variety of areas. Because we may have come a long way, but we’ve still got a long way to go. And we want you to help us get there.

Developing you

Our learning and development opportunities give you the chance to develop to your full potential, whatever stage of your nursing or healthcare career you’ve reached. You’ll find Apprenticeship programmes from Level 2 through to Masters level and a supportive preceptorship programme for all professionally registered staff. With continuous development modules developed with local universities, a range of clinical, leadership and management courses delivered by in-house experts and a brand-new eLearning platform, you’ll have plenty of scope to learn and grow.

Our innovative simulation and deteriorating patient team also deliver experiences, either in clinical areas, or in a well-equipped simulation suite. You’ll also have the chance to partner with one of our Trust coaches, to help you develop your learning and personal growth. With strong clinical supervision, regular appraisals, one-to-ones, management supervision sessions and annual career conversations, we’ll help you develop the career you want. This includes opportunities for job shadowing, observations and placements to support your development. You may even have the chance to represent the Trust at conferences, networking events and external courses, depending on your role.

Supporting flexible working

We believe that by offering flexible working arrangements we can better support your individual needs, which will improve your performance and that of the Trust. It often leads to increased diversity and a happier team. So, we encourage flexible working whenever possible to suit your needs. Depending on your role, you might benefit from flexible hours, part-time or job-sharing opportunities, or working from home. For example, many of our colleagues in community services are set up for remote working allowing them to blend where they work from. You’ll also have access to enhanced shared parental leave, giving you more flexibility in balancing childcare during the first year after birth or adoption.
