SCR and Procurement

About Somerset Cancer Register

To support the Cancer Waiting Times data collection requirements in 2003, an in house database was successfully developed in an acute organisation in the Avon, Somerset and Wiltshire Cancer Network (ASWCS) -Taunton & Somerset NHS Trust.

This application has developed over the years and is used to collect data to support clinical audit at national and regional level. It is used as a tool in live MDT meetings to assist clinicians in the management of the patient pathway.

The vision for Somerset Cancer Register is

  • To create an electronic cancer patient record, in a user friendly manner, which avoids duplication of information
  • To have an application which collects standard data items, for sharing with other Networks, Cancer Registries and National Audits
  • To lead to a better understanding of outcomes and future management requirements for cancer patients

The application is now in use by over 100 organisations across the country and the revenue generated through sales goes back into the NHS. The development of the product is very much influenced by the users of the product.

Why Choose SCR – Key Summary Points

Remote Monitoring System

Alongside our core product, SCR has developed a dedicated remote monitoring IT system, RMS. This monitors patients that have been entered onto a Stratified Pathway and have been identified as suitable for remote monitoring.

More information can be found on our Remote Monitoring page.

Procurement

There is an initial Procurement charge for the system. The system is then supported on an annual basis through a Service Contract (SLA).

Our pricing structure for the annual maintenance is based on the Trust size, please get in touch for a quote.

After showing an interest in purchasing the Somerset Cancer Register we will send you a step by step guide that outlines the Procurement Process we have in place.

Generally we find that the process from start to finish takes approximately 20 weeks, although this can be completed in a much shorter timescale.

Service Contracts

Our Customers will be sent a Service Contract which formally defines the level of service you expect to receive from us and, in turn, what we expect from you.

Currently 1 year and 3 year contracts are available.

As part of our contract the source code is protected via an Escrow Agreement with the NCC group. This code is updated with every release.

In the event that we ever become unable to continue to maintain and support the Somerset Cancer Register, our customers can apply for the software source code to be released, allowing them to continue to maintain the software in-house. For more information on the protection that this gives our customers please see the NCC website
