Counselling

Who is it for

If you are aged 18 or above and have been diagnosed or treated due to cancer in the last 5 years at Somerset NHS Trust, or someone close to you is facing a crisis connected to a diagnosis of cancer which is affecting them emotionally then you may wish to contact us.

What we offer

We offer a confidential psychological support and counselling service for patients and significant others who are experiencing the psychological impact of cancer. You can talk to someone who has specialised training and knowledge of the psychological difficulties of cancer.

Types of counselling

  • Individual patient or significant other, up to 8 sessions.
  • Couples, up to 8 sessions.
  • Young Person’s (11 to 17 years old), up to 8 sessions

Locations

  • Remote, either by telephone or online.
  • Face-to-face, various locations offered across Somerset.

To self-refer, please contact us directly with the following details:

  • hospital number (if easily available)
  • contact number – please indicate if it is ok to leave a message saying who we are and where we are calling from.
