A guide to hearing aids

A hearing aid with a silver body and a clear tube attached to a bright green ear mould.

Hearing aids help you hear better, but not all sounds are perfect.

They make it easier to hear things around you.

Two people are sitting and talking. A large speech bubble is above them with a hand giving a thumbs up inside the bubble.

Hearing aids help you hear people talking. This makes chatting with friends and family easier.

A brown door with two small glass panels and a gold handle. Next to the door is a white doorbell with a red button. A speech bubble shows a hand pressing the doorbell with black sound lines around it. Below is a white keypad with black buttons and sound lines. On the right is a large hand giving a thumbs up.

When you wear hearing aids, you can hear every day sounds, like the doorbell or the phone ringing.

A grey hearing aid is shown in two steps. The top image says “Turn ON” and shows the battery drawer closed with a curved arrow. The bottom image says “Turn OFF” and shows the battery drawer open with a curved arrow.

To turn on the hearing aids close the battery drawer with battery in place.

To turn off the hearing aid you need to open the battery drawer (like in the picture).

Hearing aids placed behind the ear

The hearing aid goes behind your ear.

Two images showing a hearing aid. The top image shows the hearing aid worn behind an ear with a clear tube going into the ear. The bottom image shows the same hearing aid held in a hand with a clear ear mould attached. A large green arrow points from the top image to the bottom image.

An ear mould fits inside your ear.
