Yeovil Hospital

Temporary changes

We have made the very difficult decision to temporarily close our Special Care Baby Unit at Yeovil Hospital from 5pm on Monday 19 May 2025, which means we are also unable to safely provide care during labour and birth at the Yeovil Maternity Unit for an initial period of six months. Please speak to your midwife or read further information – Temporary closure of special care baby unit and important changes to inpatient maternity services at Yeovil Hospital – Somerset NHS Foundation Trust.

Freya ward

On the second floor is Freya ward staffed by midwives and support workers to provide antenatal and postnatal care for pregnant women or people and their babies.

Freya ward consists of 12 beds including four newly refurbished en-suite side rooms.

There is also a small kitchen area for people to help themselves to refreshments and a nursery with areas to bath and change babies.

Please note that children 11 years old and under are not allowed on Freya Ward.

We kindly ask that you do not bring flowers to Freya ward when visiting friends and family.
