Fern ward is our postnatal ward where you and your new baby will go if you are not yet fit or well enough to go home from labour ward, or if your baby/babies are admitted to our special care baby unit next door.
Fern ward has 12 inpatient beds and two “transitional care” beds for babies who need extra help, but do not need to be admitted our special care baby unit.
You will be supported by three midwives and two maternity care assistants. Your length of stay on this postnatal ward will depend on the type of delivery you had and any postnatal complications.
