We know how busy life on the farm can be and how hard it is to find time for your own health. That’s why we’ve set up a pop-up health clinic in South Somerset, designed especially for farmers, agricultural workers, and their families.

Our goal is to make it easier for the farming communities to stay healthy and well for the long term.

Why it matters

Farming is tough work, and recent NHS research shows that people in agriculture often face:

  • more health problems than the general population
  • higher levels of stress and depression, especially due to isolation, financial pressures administrative burdens
  • a disproportionately high suicide rate among farmers
  • a higher number of accidents and injuries due to labour shortages
  • long-term aches and pains, even in younger farmers
  • difficulty getting help, whether it’s due to distance, cultural norms, stigma, or just not having the time.

Where to find us

You’ll find our Somerset NHS Foundation Trust health hub at Mole Valley Farmers in Yeovil, making it easier for you to drop in and access the support you need, right where you are.

When can I drop in?

No appointment needed.

We will be here once a month. You can drop in more than once.

Who we are

Our skilled community care clinicians include:

  • district nurses
  • mental health support worker
  • occupational therapists
  • physiotherapists
  • a GP and nurses who specialise in complex care.

Many of us come from farming families ourselves, so we understand the lifestyle and the challenges.

Our clinics will have a nurse present who will undertake a clinical health and a mental health check.

What we offer

Drop in for a free health check. We can help with:

  • blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar, BMI (height and weight)
  • lifestyle assessment (smoking, drinking, exercise)
  • mental health and emotional wellbeing checks.
  • family history review for things like heart disease, stroke, diabetes, cancer and mental health
  • advice and signposting to local support services, including voluntary and community organisations

No judgment. No pressure. Just real, friendly and practical support to help you stay on top of your health and well being.

Working together

Each month, alongside our regular health checks, we’ll be teaming up with a range of community partners to offer support, advice, and resources tailored to rural life.

These include:

  • Somerset Police’s Rural Engagement Team
  • National Farmers Union (NFU)
  • AGRII
  • Farming charities and voluntary sector organisations, such as the Alzheimer’s Society.

We’re building a service that brings everything together in one place, making it easier for you to access the support you need, regularly and reliably. Whether it’s health checks, advice from local organisations, or help from farming charities, we’re here to make sure nothing gets missed.
