Acute Medical Unit (AMU)
You’ll come to the acute medical unit (AMU) if your GP has referred you to hospital as an emergency, or if you have been in the emergency department and need to be admitted.
AMU is a short stay ward and you may move to another ward if we think you need a longer stay in hospital for your treatment. If this is the case, we will try to move you to the most appropriate ward to look after your health problems.
Visiting Times: Visitors are welcome between 10am to 9pm – seven days a week
Visiting update 28 May 2021: At the moment we are unable to allow any visiting on AMU.
Number of visitors to a bed: For the safety and comfort of all our patients we restrict visitors to 2 at a time, but do ask the nursing team if more visitors need to come in.
Sister in charge: Sharon Conway and Rebecca White
Matron: Chantal Baker
