Children’s hearing services working group (CHSWG) - Somerset

What is CHSWG?

CHSWG (often pronounced ‘chizzywig’) is a group of parents and professionals all with a responsibility or interest in provision of care for deaf and hearing-impaired children. We meet 3 times a year to share experiences, ideas and actions for improving the lives of deaf/hearing-impaired children using our local services.

What do we do?

  • Listen and respond to the views of children and families using our services
  • Take a key role in ensuring recommendations from national initiatives and quality assurance are being met
  • Offer advice, guidance, and a platform to influence and tailor service provision directly

Who attends CHSWG meetings?

A representative from each of the following areas is invited to attend:

  • Parents of deaf or hearing of hearing children
  • Paediatric Audiology
  • Somerset Hearing Support Service (Teachers of the deaf)
  • Paediatrician
  • Speech and language therapy
