The Gastroenterology Department provides comprehensive care for patients with disorders and diseases related to the digestive system; this includes the upper and lower gastro-intestinal (GI) tract, liver, gall bladder and pancreas.
The philosophy of our team is to take an individual and holistic approach to patient care which will involve the patient, family and carers in discharge planning and ongoing care. We work closely with the wider healthcare team to support our patients recovery and rehabilitation, and we aim to communicate as effectively as possible, caring for our patients in an environment that is clean and safe, preserving privacy and dignity at all times.
The team consists of gastroenterology consultants, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) specialist nurses, upper gi cancer nurses, nutrition nurses, hepatology nurses, nurse endoscopists, a nurse gi physiologist and bowel cancer screening programme (BCSP) practitioners.
