Temporary changes

We have made the very difficult decision to temporarily close our Special Care Baby Unit at Yeovil Hospital from 5pm on Monday 19 May 2025, which means we are also unable to safely provide care during labour and birth at the Yeovil Maternity Unit for an initial period of six months. In October, the trust plans to share a timeline and a date for reopening, subject to meeting agreed safety criteria. Please speak to your midwife or read further information – Important maternity and SCBU temporary service change updates

Changes to where you receive your care at Yeovil Hospital

  • Antenatal clinic and scanning will continue in the Women’s Hospital as usual.
  • There is no change to community care.
  • Postnatal care, including infant feeding support will continue
  • There will be no inpatient (staying in overnight) care including birth – your  midwife will be in touch to discuss your options and support you to make choices.
