Director of Midwifery Sally Bryant shares a message following the Amos report

It is very difficult to read the experiences of women, families and birthing partners, and of colleagues working in our maternity and neonatal services covered by the Amos report. We want to reassure you that we have acted quickly to respond to concerns about the safety of our services and are committed to continual improvement. Director of Midwifery Sally Bryant shares a message to all women and families who are receiving their maternity care with us, or will be soon.

Welcome to maternity services

We are committed to providing personalised, kind, compassionate, safe maternity and neonatal care in Somerset.

Our maternity and neonatal services provide health services to women/birthing people, babies, and families throughout the whole pregnancy, during labour and birth, and after birth for up to six weeks.

Throughout your care, we will ensure you have the information you need to make decisions about your care and we will support our maternity teams to work together, promoting an open and honest culture which encourages listening, learning and collaboration.

Our care is provided in a number of locations, including Musgrove Park Hospital maternity unit, Yeovil Hospital maternity unit, community hubs around Somerset, and in your own home.

Our maternity and neonatal team is made up of various clinicians including midwives, obstetricians, paediatricians, neonatal nurses, healthcare assistants, maternity support workers, trainee nursing assistants and anaesthetists. We also work closely with a range of other healthcare providers including GPs and health visitors.

The maternity and neonatal services at Yeovil Hospital are now open. Full details and FAQs are available on our important maternity updates page, or you can speak to your midwife if you have any questions about your care and birthing choices.
