Our Medical Day Unit (MDU) delivers various planned, non-urgent treatments if you have a long term condition that requires regular hospital treatment. This could include chrons disease, colitis and rheumatoid arthritis. We also deliver a variety of intravenous injections, paracentesis (where a needle is inserted into the abdomen to remove fluid), and lumbar puncture.
You may also attend MDU to finish the course of treatment after you have been discharged from hospital.
MDU is open 8am – 8.30pm Monday – Friday. There are no set visiting times, but we ask that you only have 1 visitor at any one time.
Soup and sandwiches are served at midday and again at 5pm, we also provide a tea and coffee trolley and snacks. Special diets can be catered for, please inform the nurse on your arrival.
If you have any type of infection or any recent contact with others that have had an infection, please don’t attend the unit. This includes contact or recent diarrhoea and vomiting.
