If your pregnancy is straight forward, these are the appointments you should expect to have. You may need more appointments if you have certain medical or pregnancy needs.  Appointments will normally be with a midwife, GP or obstetrician.

Scans and doctor appointments usually happen at the hospital.

If it’s your first baby, you’ll have up to 10 appointments (25, 31 and 40 weeks are extra appointments if you are having your first baby). If you’ve had a baby before, you’ll have around 7. Your midwife or doctor can tell you what appointments you should have.

Your appointments can be at:

  • a community hub
  • a GP surgery
  • a hospital
  • your home.

In Somerset, we use a system called Badger Note. It is an online way to keep track of your pregnancy care.

Badger Notes is a website and app. You can see your pregnancy records on a computer, tablet, or phone.

You can use the Badger Notes to see your pregnancy notes, appointments and tests.

If you have any questions or don’t understand something, ask your maternity team.
