Ophthalmology theatre suite (OTS)

Our ophthalmic theatre suite is situated in the building next to the day surgery centre.

Patients can access the unit directly from the car park without the need to enter the main Musgrove building.

We specialise in caring for patients undergoing ophthalmology procedures under both local and general anaesthetics (both adults and children).

Operating sessions

The ophthalmic theatre suite is open 7:30am to 6pm, Monday to Friday.

Please be aware that your admission time will not be your operating time.

We run two operating sessions per day.

For the morning session, you will be admitted from 7.30am and the operating times will be between 9am to 1pm.

For the afternoon session, you will be admitted from 12:30pm and the operating times will be between 2pm to 6pm.

You do not need to bring any dressing gowns or slippers but may need to bring an item of clothing to keep you warm, a light snack if you are having the procedure done under a local anaesthetic and something to keep you occupied whilst you wait.

Visiting

We are unable to accommodate any visitors on the ward, except for patients with additional needs or carer responsibilities and those accompanying children. Please contact the nurse-in-charge prior to admission to discuss if you have any queries.
