Antenatal Classes

Antenatal classes are lessons to help you get ready for your baby’s birth. These classes help you understand what happens when your baby is born and how to care for your newborn. They’re also a great way to meet other parents-to-be.

These classes cover a lot of important topics, such as:

  • What happens during labour
  • Ways to manage pain during labour
  • Exercises after pregnancy
  • Your feelings about the birth and becoming a parent
  • How to care for your baby
  • How to feed your baby

You will also learn about the different options for labour and delivery. This can help you feel confident when you think about your birth preferences. It’s a good chance to talk about your plans and any worries with professionals and other parents-to-be.

Try to start these classes when you’re about 30-32 weeks pregnant, or about 8-10 weeks before your baby’s due date. Talk to your midwife about classes in your area.
